The Incredible Room 17

TERM 4 LIBRARY- will be on WEDNESDAY!!!
Brain Food - Children enjoy and need to eat regular snacks. Reminder, brain food snacks include small bite size pieces of pre-cut fruit and vegetables, dried fruit, plain unsalted popcorn.  It should be able to popped into mouths straight away so children can continue working.  Brain food needs to be in named small sealed containers or re-sealable plastic bags in the classroom before the 8.55am bell each morning.  
Water - Water is very important.  Please ensure your child has a named water bottle.    
Uniform and personal belongings - Please check and rename everything clearly.
Special welcome to Allee Overmyer, a student teacher from the U.S.A. who is joining our team this term and will be based in Room 17.
Remember that school begins at 8.55am.  Please ensure your child is there at least 5-10  minutesbefore this so they can prepare for the day and chat with their friends.

Learning in Rangitoto Team for Term 4
This term, the big idea behind all our learning is Reading Around the World.  What are the similarities or differences between books/stories from around the world?  

Mathematics    -  Addition, Subtraction, multiplication, division (as
                          Appropriate for child’s level)
                          Proportions and ratio
                          Measurement (mass and capacity)
                          Reviewing fractions, length and Geometry.                                
Writing            -  Recounts and Instructional writing
Reading          -   Reading skills, fluency, retelling and understanding
Oral Language -  Presenting poems and News reporting (see class blog).
Inquiry Topic     -  Reading Around the world.  Children will be exposed to
Social Science  - Stories from a wide range of cultures and complete
& Literacy            Activities based on these.        
P.E.                     -  Gymnastics and athletics.  Fitness skipping and running.
